Why hand tuning

Most shops push boards and skis through an automated belt and move on.

We don't. Every base and every edge gets read by hand and tuned as heavily — or as lightly — as it actually needs. No two boards leave here the same, because no two boards arrive the same. That obsession with detail is the whole point, and you can feel it on your first run.

FIG.01 — Edge work. By hand, by feel.
01 / HANDS

Tuned by feel

Edges and bases worked by hand, not stripped by a machine that treats every board the same.

02 / SCARCE

4 jobs a week

We cap the book on purpose. Limited slots mean your gear gets dedicated, unrushed time.

03 / DIALLED

Built around you

The tune is set to where and how you ride — local ice rides nothing like a Japan pow trip.

Board Buying Consult

  • Camber vs rocker, decoded
  • Style & stance
  • Where you ride
  • Shop-independent advice

Walk into a shop and they'll sell you what's on the floor. We're not selling boards — we help you find yours. In one session we nut out full camber, reverse camber and rocker, and make sense of how those terms actually affect you and your ride — so you buy the right board for your style, stance and the snow you're on.

Every tune
starts with a
conversation.

We talk through where you ride, how you ride, and what you want out of your gear — then dial the edge and the wax to suit. Riding here in Australia is a different game to a Japan trip, so your board or skis get tweaked to match the snow you're actually on.

How it works

Talk. Tune. Ride.

STEP 01

Talk

Book a slot or text us. We chat through your setup, your style, and where you're headed this season.

STEP 02

Tune

Your gear gets unrushed, hands-on work — base, edges and wax dialled to your riding and the conditions.

STEP 03

Ride

Pick it up sharper, faster and ready. Then feel the difference on your very first turn.

Who's behind it

Why Above Mountain

I've been riding for over 20 years, and over time I realised commercial shops just don't have the attention to detail a truly perfect tune needs. I started Above Mountain Tuning to bring that meticulous, hands-on care to the Australian snow community.

When I'm not tuning snow gear, I run MTB Suspension Works — a high-end mountain bike suspension tuning workshop. Precision engineering and fine mechanical work are what I do year-round, and the same standards go straight into your edges.

Your gear is in the hands of a dedicated specialist. Not a queue.
